Guilty hitman to be sentenced

Goodwill ‘Thambi’ Nyembe (50) was shot and killed in an assassination hit in May that 2016.

NOTORIOUS hitman Fisokuhle Ntuli, found guilty of killing an African National Congress (ANC) councillor in Nongoma in 2016, will be sentenced at the eSikhaleni Regional Court today (Tuesday).

Goodwill ‘Thambi’ Nyembe (50) was shot and killed in an assassination hit in May that year.

Councillor Nyembe and his wife were travelling in the Emasundwini area north of Nongoma, when a gunman opened fire on their car.

The couple were critically injured and rushed to hospital, but Councillor Nyembe was declared dead on arrival.

Ntuli was arrested by a task team investigating politically related cases in the province and found guilty on a raft of charges, ranging from murder to possession of unlicensed firearms.

He was also linked to 10 other cases.
