Pay for your vehicle licence online

According to the RTMC, there is already an increase in online activity with more than 6 700 motorists using the NaTIS online crash reporting platform since its introduction in 2019

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has introduced a digital option for motorists renewing or registering their car licence discs using the national administration traffic information system (NaTIS) online platform.

The new payment gateway, enabled by First National Bank (FNB), will save motorists time as they avoid long queues, save on money related to penalties for late renewal, and help to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

According to the RTMC, there is already an increase in online activity with more than 6 700 motorists using the NaTIS online crash reporting platform since its introduction in 2019.

FNB Public Sector CEO, Sipho Silinda, said: ‘By adding a digital payment option, RTMC aims to reduce cash-handling risks for all involved.

‘This will assist in reducing operational costs and pass these savings to South Africans. This is an introduction of more innovative services while maintaining the levels of service expected.’

How the online platform works

Motorists will log in to the NaTIS platform, select ‘View Motor Renewals’, choose the licence disc/car, capture card details of the respec-tive bank and pay.

Once payment has been made, motorists can choose to have the car licence disc couriered to their address, or get it printed at the nearest Drivers Licence Testing Centre (DLTC).

RTMC encourages motorists to use the NaTIS online platform to verify and update addresses so licence discs are delivered to the correct residential address.
