Funds raised enable Cupcakes of Hope to assist 120 children and their families every month; by covering their medical bills and other essential needs, from nappies to nutrition and everything in between.

National Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer Day Co-ordinator Helena Pieterse urges community members to join the cause as bakers as well as supporters, by purchasing cupcakes sold on the day.

Built on the foundation of love and hope, sweetened by kindness and frosted with community, care and compassion, Cupcakes of Hope is a community-driven non-profit organisation committed to raising awareness and sharing stories of hope through the love of baking cupcakes.

While childhood cancer is a difficult journey, Cupcakes of Hope offers a light-hearted, fun and rewarding way to help children and families in need.

Volunteers, fondly known as Cupcake Angels, are between the ages of 3 and 90 years old, and generously offer their time to ‘bake a difference’.

‘September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and those looking to bake a difference, are invited to take part in the Cupcakes of Hope #Bake4Cancer campaign,’ said Pieterse.

‘Cupcakes of Hope is aiming to register 3 000 bakers to help us raise funds and reach our target of R3-million this September.

‘Hosting a #Bake4Cancer fundraiser is a wonderful way to bring family, friends and colleagues together for a good cause.

‘From school fundraisers to pop-up shops, neighbourhood cake sales to innovative and creative corporate team building activities, every little counts and it really is the sweetest way to save a life,’ she said.
