The trail takes participants through a beautiful section of coastline, from the Beachwood mangroves in Durban to Ballito's Salmon Bay.

THE word philocaly means the love of beauty, which is why those participating in the Philocaly Trail are never disappointed.

The trail, which is a KZN-wide beach walk aimed at bringing people together to share and enjoy the natural beauty of our coastline, was initiated by nature lover Nikki Williamson as a fundraising initiative to support marine conservation charities such as WildOceans, Breathe Ocean Conservation, and Adopt-a-River.

The first event took place in 2019 and to date, R250 000 has been raised. Due to popular demand, this year’s walk will be held on 23 and 24 October.

Day one starts at Beachwood mangroves and ends at uMdloti’s main beach, with the second day ending at Salmon Bay in Ballito.

Both stretches will be 17km long. Entries are now open. Visit the website www.philocaly.co.za to book.
