Seven people suffered injuries ranging in severity, and one was declared dead on scene in an accident which took place earlier this morning (Tuesday).
The multi-vehicle accident involving a bus, taxi and a bakkie carrying school children, occurred along the R619 about 2km outside eNseleni.
Reports indicate that the bus was travelling towards eNseleni when it collided with a minibus taxi that was travelling towards Richards’s Bay. Both the bus and the taxi caught alight on impact, and were completely gutted.
A bakkie with children overturned when the driver attempted to avoid the accident.
Three patients were rushed to Netcare The Bay Hospital, while four – believed to be children – were rushed to eNseleni Clinic for medical attention. Both lanes on the R619 were blocked, and traffic was severely affected.
