While cold weather is expected to persist over the weekend, temperatures will begin to rise from Monday next week.

This was confirmed by South African Weather Service forecaster, Wiseman Dlamini who said temperatures will remain low over the Zululand region until Sunday.

The icy temperatures have been due to a succession of cold fronts which have swept across the southern half of the country.

SAWS will continue to monitor any further developments relating to this weather system and will issue updates as required.

The public, especially travellers, are urged to regularly follow weather forecasts on television and radio, to be kept abreast of the weather situation.
