Marsha takes on massive cat cause challenge

Richards Bay endurance athlete Marsha Muller will this weekend take on a 322km (200 mile) run for a cause close to her heart - Project Feral Cat

Richards Bay endurance athlete Marsha Muller will this weekend take on a 322km (200 mile) run for a cause close to her heart – Project Feral Cat.

With numerous victories under the belt, such as her Washie 100 mile (161km) titles, the Maxed Elite Comrades veteran has doubled her 2021 Washie challenge to complete 200 miles between Friday and Sunday, running non-stop on her treadmill.

She will have her treadmill set up at the Burn Never Give Up Studio at the Richards Bay Rugby Club, and will begin her run at 6am tomorrow (Friday).

Muller said she was disappointed when this year’s Washie from Cathcart to East London was cancelled earlier this month, and decided to set an even bigger challenge for herself.

‘I have trained so hard for the Washie and I have a body that wants to run, that is why I’m taking on the challenge this weekend.

‘I am running to raise awareness and funds for Project Feral Cat, a Richards Bay-based NPO which aims to trap, neuter and release feral cats into a stable colony to control over-population and unwanted kittens.’

It is really short notice, but community members who would like to support this initiative can donate funds or pop in at the club and catch a glimpse of me in action while dropping off a donation of cat food,’ she said.

Life and business coach, Cherona Dannhauser, said this was one event not to be missed.

‘It is really something to witness Marsha take on this 200 mile challenge.

Anyone can be part of this journey and see what it is like to achieve one’s goals.

‘Marsha is known for her endurance as a super athlete and her passion for running, positive mindset and caring for animals.

‘I believe that now more than ever we need beacons of hope, and Marsha is one of them.’
