The past week has been an emotional roller coaster.
From devastation and looting to despondent shop owners trying to pick up the pieces, we saw the resilient spirit of Zululanders who stood united in the face of adversity.

After two days of destruction and rioting, residents and volunteers joined hands with municipal authorities to clean the streets – strewn with rubble and litter – over the next two days.
Residents and community policing forums stepped up to assist law enforcement agencies to protect property and people.
In the midst of fear and anxiety, a spirit of hope and belief emanated that we can and will rise from the ashes and rebuild the town and country together.
The week ended on a positive note, symbolising that the tide is turning.
In a show of unity, residents gathered in Empangeni to worship and pray for the town and country. Together we can build again.
