The former president announced via his JG Zuma Foundation Twitter page on Saturday that he would address the media at 6pm on Sunday evening in Nkandla, and not in Durban as previously communicated.

Zuma was found guilty and sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for refusing to testify before the State Capture Commission.

He was expected to hand himself over to the police on Sunday midnight, failing which police would track him down and arrest him.

But on Saturday, the Constitutional Court agreed to hear his application against its contempt judgment and sentencing next week.

Zuma’s defence team filled an urgent court application to the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Friday, to ask the apex court to review his conviction and sentencing.

Since Constitutional Court handed down the judgment, scores of Zuma supporters have expressed their unhappiness and descended on his homestead in Nkandla to show their unwavering support.

These supporters include ANC members, religious leaders and Zulu warriors.
