Restore power to eSikhaleni, city mayor pleads with Eskom

City Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo pleaded with Eskom to restore power to eSikhaleni with immediate effect and deal with illegal connectivity later.

Mhlongo said the power utility’s decision to cut power supply to the township did not only caused unnecessary chaos, but it has also affected water provision to the area.

Spike in KZN Covid-19 infections

Latest Covid-19 trends show that KZN is coming close to reaching the red zone, with more than 500 cases recorded daily.

KZN premier Sihle Zikalala said during a media briefing on Sunday that although the province’s figures are fluctuating and do not show that KZN has peaked yet, there are worrying signs of what appears to be an increase in the infection rate.

Draw not enough for Richards Bay FC

PSL promotion hopes died for Richards Bay FC when they drew 1-1 with Chippa United at the uMhlathuze Stadium this afternoon.

After a goalless first half the NRB boys conceded early in the second and dominated the game but just could not get the ball end the net again.

Covid-19: Vaccinations for over 50s to roll-out on 15 July

Acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane announced on Friday that those aged 50 and above will receive their Covid-19 vaccines from 15 July.

This followed the approval by the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) on vaccines, and registration will open from 1 July.

WATCH: Motorist lucky to be alive as truck ‘falls’ on bakkie in Richards Bay

A heavy goods truck overturned while navigating a sharp bend on Alumina Allee in Richards Bay, and landed on a bakkie on Thursday afternoon.

Miraculously, the driver of the bakkie walked away from the accident without a scratch. The truck driver was also uninjured, but shocked.
