Support Amangwe Village with a ribbon order

Amangwe Village is calling on businesses to support its ribbon-making venture in a bid to boost its fast-depleting coffers

Amangwe Village is calling on businesses to support its ribbon-making venture in a bid to boost its fast-depleting coffers.

As with many NPOs, Amangwe Village finds itself in financial dire straits as much of its corporate sponsorship has halted.

Taking things month by month and having to cut costs where possible, staff at the cash-strapped NPO are thinking outside the box when it comes to fundraising.

The Amangwe Village team is exceptional at making ribbons to observe awareness days like Women’s Day (9 August) and Heritage Day (24 September).

Black ribbons are also worn during the 16 days of activism, observed every year from 25 November to 10 December.

The KwaMbonambi-based NPO is calling for public support of its ribbon making, with bulk orders welcomed.

This will go towards supporting its essential community work in rural areas around KwaMbonambi.

Valuable work done by Amangwe Through its highly successful self-help group programme, hundreds of women from Sokhulu and neighbouring areas have launched small businesses such as making school uniforms or selling vegetables.

With the money saved through women empowerment ‘stokvel’ groups, many have built or extended their own homes and are no longer solely dependent on government grants for survival.

Amangwe Village healthcare workers support rural community members. Without them, disabled or frail elderly residents would have no access to medication as they are physically unable to get to the clinic.

The NPO has also been instrumental in raising awareness about HIV/Aids, working educational presentations into every training session delivered to the community.

Without financial assistance, Amangwe Village will be unable to carry out this vital work within the community in which it is based.
