Royal AM set to spoil the party once again

Royal AM will presumably also not honour their home game against Richards Bay on Thursday

Royal AM are due to kick off against Chippa United at 3pm today (Tuesday) for the second of the playoff round robin games, to contest a PSL promotion place alongside already-promoted Sekhukhune United.

But there is unlikely to be any action at the Chatsworth Stadium as Royal has threatened to again put a spanner in the works by refusing to honour the commitment.

The Chilli Boys will have made the drive from Port Elizabeth in vain as Royals continue to try for promotion via the courts.

The PSL has had more than enough of their antics and delaying tactics, and have read them the riot act: either play or be docked a 3-0 loss for each abandoned game.

Should they go ahead with their threats – and the PSL does not have the greatest record when it comes to successfully executing disciplinary measures – the race is set to be narrowed down to Chippa and NRB for the coveted PSL place.

Royal AM will presumably also not honour their home game against Richards Bay on Thursday, nor the return leg next Monday, while Chippa will almost certainly pitch up at the uMhlathuze Stadium on Saturday.

Chippa edged out a highly competitive Richards Bay side by a 2-1 score line on Saturday, but the NRB boys are confident of turning that one around.

That being said, the entire playoff scenario is a farce and Royal AM surely won’t win any popularity polls other than among their own supporters.
