This is in addition to the monthly open day held on the last Saturday of every month.

Sky’s Shop, which will sell an assortment of items, will be open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 3pm, and on Saturdays from 8am to midday.

The shop is to honour Sky the hero, the Arboretum dog who was stabbed nine times during a home invasion last year. On hearing the news of the incident, Richards Bay animal lovers rallied to raise funds for Sky’s surgery, from which she recovered.

Sky’s Shop has been in the pipeline ever since.

Meanwhile, the SPCA’s open days are going down a treat among its loyal supporters, with the most recent one being no different.

Showing support for the work done by Richards Bay SPCA, Fidelity ADT generously sponsored a boerewors roll braai, with sales of R2 900 donated to the SPCA.

Fidelity ADT Richards Bay branch manager Rian Buys commended the SPCA staff members and volunteers for their dedication and hard work.

Richards Bay SPCA acting chairperson Engela Hamman thanked them for the support, adding that donations and sponsorship were vital for the daily running and maintenance costs, as well as funding projects to keep the animals healthy, happy and safe.
