In addition to the head’s role, the school is privileged to have a dedicated teaching staff and high calibre of learners, past and present, who have steered the school on the path to prestige and greatness.

From the original 120 learners and 18 staff members, Grantham Park has expanded to include 1 133 learners and 70 staff members in total in 2021.

A beautiful landmark with immaculate facilities

GRANTHAM Park Primary School is a landmark in Empangeni, nestled in a beautiful garden setting.

Under the shady canopy of beautiful indigenous trees, learners pursue academic, co-curricular and extramural activities that are enhanced by a well-equipped computer centre, media centre, music room and art room.

During the 1980s, Grantham Park was forced to use the sports facilities of neighbouring schools, but today the school boasts a swimming pool and immaculately maintained rugby, hockey and netball fields.

Its learners also have access to well-manicured cricket pitches and a 210m athletics track.

‘Serve and Strive’ a benchmark motto

‘WE believe we owe our success to the ethos of the school, which has been indelibly etched in the hearts and minds of learners who have persevered, achieved and passed through its hallowed portals over the last four decades.’ Principal Busani Biyela

‘Our grounds provide enough space to facilitate an orderly, safe and stimulating environment for our learners, and encourage extra-mural activities such as rugby, hockey, netball, soccer, cricket, scouts, choir and chess.

‘The melodies of thousands of young voices have echoed through our air conditioned school hall as they have rendered our beautiful school song with pride and praise.’

Grantham Park Primary School has embraced transformation without fear or favour, and ensures that all within its space enjoy the rich tapestry of diversity that shapes our beautiful democracy.

Sharkies, as the learners are known, will blend seamlessly into society while epitomising the school’s vision of creating ‘citizens who are self-disciplined and self-reliant with high morals, high values and unquestionable integrity.’

May our motto, Serve and Strive, be the benchmark by which all our Grantham Park family, past, present and future, shape their lives.’ Principal Busani Biyela
