Voter education campaign kicks off in Zululand

The KZN Legislature will visit various towns in the Zululand and uMkhanyakude districts this weekend

The KZN Legislature will visit various towns in the Zululand and uMkhanyakude districts this weekend to encourage citizens to participate in the upcoming local government elections, scheduled for 27 October.

This campaign follows the announcement of the voter registration weekend which is set for 17 and 18 July.

‘It aims to ensure we approach the upcoming local government elections with well-informed citizens who are able to participate effectively, and that we strengthen our commitment to the fundamental values of constitutional democracy,’ said deputy speaker of the Legislature, Themba Mthembu.

The Legislature will conduct the first phase of the campaign in the following areas:

uMkhanyakude district: 15 May from 9am uMhlabuyalingana Municipality

* Ward 1 (Manguzi town)

* Ward 4

Route: Thengani Evangelical Church, Mnyayiza, Mashalaza, Manguzi Shopping Centre

Mtubatuba Municipality

* Mtubatuba town

* Ward 3

* Ward 20

Route: Bhoboza, Msane, Mbatsheni, Delunina low-cost housing settlements

Zululand district: 15 May from 9am Pongola Municipality

*Ward 2

*Ward 5 (Belgrade)

*Ward 10

Route: Ncotshane township (wards 10 and 2), town

Abaqulusi Municipality

*Ward 18 – Vryheid

Route: Mondlo township, garage next to the rank
