WATCH: Another mamba for Empangeni snake catcher

The 1.5m snake was safely released

‘FEARLESS’ Fred Lubbe was called out to Macekane village late on Tuesday afternoon to catch a 1.5m-long black mamba that had been spotted by a resident three days prior.

Unfortunately for Fred, the bedroom in which the snake decided to hide was extremely cluttered, which made his job far more difficult.

‘Once the perimeter of the room was cleared, the last place the snake could be was under the bed, which was also very cluttered.

The homeowners and I began removing items from under the bed, but still we couldn’t find anything,’ said Fred.

‘Finally, we started to remove the bedding and we tipped the mattress up. We ended up finding the snake between the base of the bed and the wall.’
