The King’s official memorial service is set to take place at KwaKhethomthandayo royal palace in Nongoma from 10am today and will be broadcast on all major channels.

His Majesty was laid to rest during a private ceremony last night.

In a statement, Eskom said the extraordinary measure to suspend load-shedding was to allow the nation to witness the significant, historical event and that load-shedding will continue as previously communicated after 2pm.

‘The power system remains constrained and vulnerable and as such, Eskom requests the public to continue reducing the usage of electricity to minimise pressure on the system.’
