African rock python safely relocated

Snakes are on the move in the warm weather, stocking up before the cooler winter months when they are less active

EZEMVELO Honorary Officers, Jaco Bates and Peter Daniel responded quickly after receiving a panicked call from a staff member at the pump station near Richtek College in Richards Bay.

‘On arrival, we spotted a 4.2m African rock python which we managed to retrieve and relocate to a safe area,’ said Bates.

‘This snake feeds on rats, chickens, small dogs, rabbits and other species.’

He said snakes are on the move in the warm weather, stocking up before the cooler winter months when they are less active.
