WATCH: Zululanders pray for frontline health workers and Covid-19 patients

Zululanders call on God's grace during Covid-19 pandemic

IN two separate prayer sessions, the communities of Empangeni and Richards Bay gathered while socially distancing, to lift up in prayer those who are suffering from Covid-19 and the frontline healthcare workers who daily put their lives on the line.

Richards Bay community members heeded the call to prayer on Sunday morning when members of different churches, community groups and clubs joined in a prayer and worship session in the parking lot area opposite Netcare The Bay Hospital.

The purpose of the prayer service was to ask for God’s mercy and protection of all frontline health workers and patients, and comfort for those who have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

Nurses and other staff members showed their gratitude by waving praying hands from the hospital building windows. Elderly patients making their way into the hospital stopped and participated in the prayer session as well.

Meanwhile, Empangeni residents on Tuesday evening gathered across the road from Life Empangeni Private Hospital to also pray for frontline healthcare workers, doctors and patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Photos and videos have been circulating on social media about groups praying outside hospitals around the country.

The aim of the prayer session was to ask for God’s protection over those affected by the virus.
