Dolphins prepped for Titans clash in opening game of Momentum One Day Cup

Dolphins prepped for Momentum One Day Cup defence

THE Hollywoodbets Dolphins squad will certainly have their hands full when they defend their Momentum One Day Cup title, when they take on the Momentum Multiply Titans and the VKB Knights in their Pool A fixtures in Potchefstroom.

Filled with talent and boasting a good balance of youth and experienced campaigners, the squad has been focused on getting the job done while in their bio-bubble leading up to the weekend’s matches.

Preparations have been different from previous seasons owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, but Dolphins coach Imraan Khan and his troops are excited to get back out onto the pitch and earn some much-needed game time.

Khan told the media his team was motivated, despite having to adjust to the fact that all their games will be contested in the Highveld.

The Dolphins opted to take an extended squad into the bio-bubble and have welcomed back Proteas star David Miller into the mix, along with young schoolboy all-rounder Andile Simelane.

Experience comes in the form of all-rounder Rob Frylinck, who comes back into the squad after not being part of the four-day domestic series squad, while top order batsman Michael Erlank earned a call-up to the limited overs side.

The squad will be without Keshav Maharaj, Keagan Petersen and Sarel Erwee, who were recently involved with the national side for the test series against Sri Lanka.

In the absence of Maharaj, experienced all-rounder Prenelan Subrayen will captain the side for the competition.

The Dolphins begin their campaign against the Titans on Saturday.

The squad: Michael Erlank, Mangaliso Mosehle, Eathan Bosch, Keith Dudgeon, Andile Simelane, Prenelan Subrayen (captain), Marques Ackerman, Grant Roelofsen, Ruan de Swardt, David Miller, Khaya Zondo, Andile Phehlukwayo, Rob Frylinck, Kerwin Mungroo, Senuran Muthusamy and Ottneil Baartman.
