Delayed reopening of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi’s Hilltop Camp

To ensure all isolation protocols are followed, the resort will only reopen on 15 January

VIGOROUS sanitising of all amenities and public places within Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park’s Hilltop Camp has been ongoing since the resort closed on Saturday after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

As well as taking all sanitising precautions, park management has taken the decision to only reopen the camp on 15 January, once all staff members’ Covid test results have been received, and once all isolation protocols have been followed by all members of staff.

Apart from the manager who initially tested positive, which prompted the closure of the resort, one additional member of staff has tested positive.

As only three of the 15 staff members’ test results have been received thus far, Ezemvelo decided against reopening until such time as all 15 test results have been received.

‘All officials who are waiting for their results are already in self-isolation,’ said Ezemvelo.

‘In the meantime, the resort will continue with the process of sanitising all facilities as well as public places within the resort.

‘So far, all public facilities, and staff accommodation have been sanitised. Only a handful of chalets still need to be sanitised as they were occupied when other areas were being sanitised.’

Ezemvelo said that all guests booked at Hilltop Camp between 7 and 15 January have been notified and given the option of transferring their booking to any other Ezemvelo resort, reschedule their booking or opt for a refund.

The remainder of Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is open to the public from 6am to 6pm.
