Covid-19: Hluhluwe-iMfolozi’s Hilltop Camp closed

The resort will likely open on Thursday, 7 January

EZEMVELO KZN Wildlife on Saturday announced the closure of Hilltop Camp, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park’s flagship resort, owing to a staff member having tested positive for Covid-19.

The closure is a precautionary measure taken in line with medical advice, and comes after the staff member who tested positive had, as part of his duties, interacted with all resort staff as well as the guests.

The resort will likely reopen on Thursday, 7 January.

Guests with bookings during the affected dates have been informed of the closure and given the option of moving their booking to Mpila Camp in the iMfolozi section of the park, Mantuma Camp at Mkhuze Game Reserve, or any other Ezemvelo resort should they prefer.

‘The guests who are currently at the resort have been informed and they will be allowed to self-isolate within the resort provided they are willing to cook and do house-keeping for themselves,’ said the conservation authority in a statement.

All three gates to the park – Cengeni, Nyalazi and Memorial – remain open and day visitors are encouraged to visit the park and make use of the Centenary Centre to buy food as the restaurant at Hilltop is also closed.
