Police enforcing festive season lockdown measures

Citizens to take extra precautions during this festive season

AS many prepare to celebrate the festive season, the KZN SAPS is warning everyone to be extra cautious as we fight the second wave of Covid-19.

Provincial police officers will be out in full force, and all those who are found to be contravening the regulations of the Disaster Management Act will be penalised.

This will include ongoing roadblocks as well as stop-and-searches.
The public is urged to abide by the Liquor Act which prohibits drinking in public.
Alcohol abuse, which is a cause of many cases of abuse and road accidents, will be a top priority for police over the festive season.
A reminder has also been issued that beaches will be closed on 25, 26, and 31 December 2020, and on 1, 2 and 3 January 2021.
On other days, beaches will be open from 9am to 6pm, with a limited number of people being allowed at any one time.
Community members must always wear masks, sanitise hands, and observe social distancing to help ensure the prevention of the spread of the virus.
