Festive food drive needs community support

Christmas hampers will be packed by 22 December for handover on Christmas Eve

A GROUP of Richards Bay women have teamed up for a Christmas project to create festive hampers for families in need.

The initiative, led by Richards Bay businesswoman Tracey-Anne Buckley Aggett, has partnered with Richards Bay Family Care to assist and support their social relief programme.

‘As the organisation’s food cupboards are empty and need to be restocked urgently, the Christmas food drive will be of great help since there is a long list of families in need in this area,’ said Buckley Aggett.

‘We decided to name ourselves Christmas Angels and our aim is to accumulate as much food and toy items as possible. We invite community members to take up the challenge and become a Christmas angel for a worthy cause too.

‘Christmas hampers will be packed by 22 December for handover on Christmas Eve.

‘While it is a small project, with the help of community members we believe that the true essence and spirit of Christmas will be brought to life and we can spread cheer with a food parcel for every family.’

Alternately, donations can be dropped off at the Maple Café, 42 Essenwood Way, Arboretum.
