Mandeni job seekers beware of scam

The public must stop entertaining these fraudsters and refrain from paying for job opportunities

THE Mandeni Municipality has warned job seekers about an ongoing job scam in the area.

Municipal Communications Manager, Mdu Manzi said the Mandeni Municipality was a government entity that does not demand job seekers to pay for employment.

‘Through the anti-fraud and corruption hotline, it has come to our attention that a syndicate swindles many people out of their hard-earned cash by promising them jobs at our municipality.

‘These people claim to be employed by the municipality, which is not the case. They are fraudsters ripping off those who are in desperate need of employment.

‘We want to warn the public to stop entertaining these people and to refrain from paying or offering payment to these heartless individuals.

‘Despite numerous warnings in this regard, it seems that people are still tempted and tricked by these ruthless people.

‘Vacant posts are openly advertised, and shortlisted applicants are invited for interviews. No payments for so-called training or uniforms are applicable.

‘Government or municipal jobs are not for sale and if someone demands payment from you to be employed, you must report that person to the nearest police station or call our fraud and corruption hotline 0801 111 660 or 17737,’ Manzi said.
