KwaMbonambi community backs clean-up campaign

The project was initiated by the KwaMbonambi Business and Investments Network, in conjunction with Mfolozi Municipality

COMMUNITY members came out in support of a KwaMbonambi clean-up project initiated by the KwaMbonambi Business and Investments Network, in conjunction with the uMfolozi Municipality, on Friday morning.

Volunteers were divided into three teams to clean up Regia and Albizia streets and the Slovo Township area.

‘I want to thank all who came out, especially the people of Slovo Township and iNkosi Mbusowabathethwa Mthethwa who supported the initiative,’ said KwaMbonambi Business and Investments Network Director, Rusty Barnes.

He said the NPO aimed to fix up abandoned buildings in the area as space for street vendors to conduct business and commercial trade, with sponsorship covering the monthly costs.

‘We appreciate the initiative and the partnership of the community,’ said uMfolozi Mayor, Smangaliso Mgenge.

iNkosi Mthethwa also extended his gratitude to all who had helped.

‘I would love to see this town grow with businesses starting up with support of investors,’ he said.

‘We need to grow our local economy by shopping local and supporting small, locally-owned businesses. I am proud of what the municipality and members of the community are doing here today.’
