Join the Zululand Diwali Festival online

To join in the celebration, go to the 'Zululand Virtual Diwali Festival 2020' on Facebook on Friday, 13 November from 7pm.

The annual ‘festival of lights’, hosted in the City of uMhlathuze, is going virtual this year with the Zululand Diwali Festival running a live Facebook stream on Friday, 13 November from 7pm.

The Zululand Diwali Committee has been commended by thousands of followers for the virtual move, thereby ensuring all loyal supporters can participate in the festivities from the safety and comfort of their own homes.

This follows the recommendation by South African Hindu Maha Sabha, Ashwin Trikimjee, that mass gatherings be avoided during the pandemic, particularly as a possible second wave of infections threatens. Zululand Diwali Committee Chairperson, Rhana Naicker, said this year’s virtual celebration is dedicated to the loving memory of the late Honorary President, Spuddy Parasuraman, who passed away in 2019.

‘The festival has been attended by thousands of fans for 30 years, and this year would be no different. This historically spectacular calendar event goes live, as promised.’

Fans will be dazzled with astoundingly talented local performances, like Funk Fusion, as well as internationally-acclaimed groups, namely Afrofusion, Medley Beats, Sashin Rob Kandhai and Zululand’s very own, Deejay Nivaadh Singh.

‘We will continue to spread the message of hope. The pandemic will not deter our attempts to overcome the darkness and spread the light.’

To join in the celebration, go to the ‘Zululand Virtual Diwali Festival 2020‘ on Facebook on Friday, 13 November from 7pm.
