Hospice golf day fund-raiser set for November

Locals are encouraged to support the event through sponsorship of funds or prizes

Ready for their first fund-raiser since lockdown, Zululand Hospice Association is hard at work preparing for their annual golf day  which is set for the 28 November.

With all funds generated from this project going towards providing palliative care to the association’s patients, locals are encouraged to support the event through sponsorship of funds or prizes and participation in the event by paying R200 per player in the 4BBB Scramble Drive.

Tees and greens are available for advertising and branding may be displayed at the event. Sponsors can also use the T-Box as a waterhole. Fund-raising Officer Ashley Naicker said as the organisation relies on donations and community support, this event is one of their significant fund-raising drives of the year.

‘Since lockdown, all fund-raisers were halted owing to Covid-19 restrictions. Caring for the community and having all hands on deck means Zululand Hospice still had all of their usual expenses but unfortunately not the same income.

‘The Charity Shop income decreased during Level 5 lockdown as we were closed for a month, and during Level 4 we were able to open but with limitations on what was permitted to sell as per government Covid-19 regulations.

‘We could not welcome two groups of American donors who usually visit annually in May and October.

‘Lockdown restrictions on international travel and risk of infection stopped them from coming and from hospice receiving the medical supply donations they usually bring with them.

‘These supplies are vital to the quality of care to patients and their overall well-being and comfort. Some of the supplies are wound care, PPE’s and infection prevention items which would now have to covered through other funds,’ said Naicker.
