COGTA calls urgent meeting with Mtubatuba municipal council

The meeting will be used to discuss various pertinent issues relating to service delivery and governance

TOMORROW (Thursday), all Mtubatuba councillors will meet with KZN COGTA (Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs) MEC Sipho Hlomuka in an urgent meeting to discuss the current state of the municipality.

Hlomuka will also use the meeting as an opportunity to engage with councillors on a number of pertinent issues relating to service delivery and governance.

Additionally, the MEC expects an update from the council on the implementation of the findings of forensic investigations which made findings against councillors and officials.

Mtubatuba Municipality has in recent weeks, been in turmoil over the impromptu resignation of former mayor Cllr Velangenkosi Gumede, and the recent removal of his replacement, Cllr Cedrick Zungu, following a motion of no confidence.

There has since been squabbles between the parties as the IFP seeks to have Zungu reinstated.
