KwaMbonambi murder accused remanded in custody

The matter was transferred to Empangeni Magistrate's Court

THE man who stands accused of murdering two women last month while they were on their way home from eNseleni, appeared in court this week and was remanded in custody.

Family members of Saneliswa Mkhwanazi (35) and Amanda Mbuyazi (37) joined a community protest outside KwaMbonambi Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning, calling for the suspect to be denied bail.

The 39-year-old man appeared briefly but the matter was transferred to Empangeni Magistrate’s Court where he will appear for a formal bail application next week.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect claimed that the murders were the result of a hijacking incident.
