WATCH: Community calls for KwaMbonambi murder-accused to be denied bail

The two young mothers were gunned down in what was described by the suspect as a hijacking

MORE than 100 members of the KwaMbonambi community gathered this (Tuesday) morning outside KwaMbonambi Magistrate’s Court, calling for bail to be denied to the suspect accused of murdering two women last month.

Included in the protesters were family members of Saneliswa Mkhwanazi (35) and Amanda Mbuyazi (37) who were shot and killed in Khondweni area three weeks ago.

With placards calling for an end to sexual abuse, and for the killing of women to stop, the protesters lined the pavement outside court.

The two young mothers were gunned down in what was described by the suspect as a hijacking.

They were en route home from a party in eNseleni.

According to initial police reports, the driver of a bakkie dropped off the two women and then fired shots at them.

The driver was traced and found at a local clinic with a stab wound on his arm.

He claimed they were involved in a hijacking incident, but was arrested.

Today was his first court appearance, the case was remanded to next week for bail application.
