Three killed in Nongoma house fire

The fire is believed to have been caused by a candle.

Two children and their grandmother were killed in a fire at their home in Nongoma on Friday night.

Although it has not yet been confirmed, the fire is believed to have been caused by a candle.

KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Sipho Hlomuka has expressed condolences to the grieving Sibiya family for their loss.

Hlomuka has also dispatched his department’s disaster management teams to Ward 17 in KwaMjiza in Nongoma where the incident happened.

The team will provide immediate relief to the family and to investigate the possible causes of the fire.

The MEC has urged residents across the province to continue to be cognisant of the dangers posed by candles, especially when these are unattended.
