City officials working to resolve Empangeni water interruptions

Water supply to affected areas should be restored within four hours

Empangeni residents awoke this morning (Thursday) to further water interruptions, this time the result of water leaks on Armstrong Avenue and Rex Henderson Street.

According to City of uMhlathuze Ward 23 Councillor Andre de Lange, city officials are busy attending to the problem. ‘I have been in contact with city officials and water could be restored within four hours.

‘Technicians are on the scene and busy fixing the problem. They have decided to open a new valve on Moberly Avenue and this means water supply could be restored to some residents shortly,’ De Lange said.

Residents said while they understood the water leak problem, the municipality should have notified them earlier so that they could plan around water interruptions.

The latest water supply problem comes after residents were without water for two days on Monday and Tuesday owing to a burst pipe in the area on Sunday.
