THE Ulundi Regional Court has sentenced Sifundo Khumalo (29) and Khethokuhle Dubazane (26) to life imprisonment for raping an 18-year-old woman in 2018.
The court heard that the victim was asleep in her house in the Njomelwane Reserve, Mahlabathini, when Khumalo and Dubazane gained entry through a window.

They repeatedly raped her until the following morning.
The victim reported the matter to the Mahlabathini police, who transferred the docket to the Ulundi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
The accused were arrested within a month.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, welcomed the heavy sentence.
‘We hope this punishment will serve as a lesson to others and help the victim find closure and healing,’ he said.
