WATCH: Public helps to free truck wedged under Richards Bay bridge

By jumping on the back of the truck, members of the public helped weigh it down, and it was reversed and released

IT was a close call for a truck driver in Richards Bay this (Saturday) morning whose vehicle became wedged under the steel bridge as he attempted to drive across it.

The truck was heading towards Tuzi Gazi Waterfront and became wedged as the crane-type of equipment that it was carrying proved too tall for the structure of the bridge.

Traffic was badly held up on both sides of the one-way bridge but, fortunately for the truck driver, helpful members of the public jumped on the back of the truck to weigh it down while he reversed it free.
