THE move to lockdown Level 1 is expected to breathe new life into tourism and hospitality businesses on the verge of collapse.
This as the further easing of regulations now allows for international travel into and out of South Africa for business and leisure from 1 October.

The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) welcomed the news.
‘This will allow the industry to take advantage of the peak holiday travel season and resuscitate hospitality businesses.
‘We would like to call upon the industry to come together, now more than ever, to work towards the recovery of our industry,’ said TBCSA CEO Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa.
According to TBCSA, the industry supports 1.5 million jobs and contributes 8.6% to the GDP.
What alert Level 1 means for the tourism industry
* International travel for leisure and business will resume
* Restaurants, including sit-downs, take-aways and deliveries will be permitted
* Air travel will be permitted
* Ocean transport will be permitted
* The curfew has been adjusted to between midnight and 4am
* Entry into the country will require a Covid-19 negative test result not older than 72 hours. Failure to do so will result in mandatory quarantine at the traveller’s own cost
* All travellers will be required to download the Covid-19 Alert App
