Improve your business with a quick spring clean this month

While adjusting to level two of lockdown it is imperative to spend time working on your business. Prepare, stay positive and intentionally plan to ensure the last few months of 2020 are filled with successful business opportunities.

SPRING is the perfect time to de-clutter and re-organise, and while ‘spring cleaning’ is typically associated with the home, you can ‘spring clean’ your business as well.

Award-winning business coach, Darryn Le Grange, from ActionCOACH Ignite, shares five tips to help business owners effectively improve business operations.

1. Review your finances
Spring is the perfect time to improve the financial intelligence of your company. Conduct a thorough review of your finances – both business and personal.

It is equally important to ensure that your spending is under control, and that you cut out any unnecessary fat.

2. Improve your processes
Ask yourself: what could you be doing better? Large initiatives or starting from scratch are not necessary.

It’s the small changes that can make the biggest difference to your bottom line.

Start by getting your team together to identify processes which will save time in productivity, and decrease costs for the coming year.

3. Review your marketing plan
Make time to review and revisit your marketing plan, and evaluate which lead generation strategies have and haven’t worked.

It may be necessary to rework or adjust certain strategies, or choose a few new ones.

4. Update your website and social media
Evaluate your online presence and ensure that the copy, tone and images accurately reflect your brand.

You may find some copy on your website that could be rewritten to sound better, more accurately reflect slight shifts in your target market, or clearly define what kinds of services you are focusing on now.

5. Take time out
Taking a break is crucial to your health, and your business operations. This may be as simple as getting out of the office, going away for a long weekend, or spending quality time with your family.

The key is to be outside of the ‘work’ context, both mentally and physically. You will find that, when you return to the office, you’ll be able to approach your business with a fresher perspective.

‘As we adjust to level two of lockdown, it is imperative to spend time working ‘on’ your business,’ explained Le Grange. ‘Prepare, stay positive and intentionally plan to ensure the last few months of 2020 are filled with successful business opportunities.’
