Good news as Eskom cancels load-shedding for Tuesday

The reprieve is short-lived as stage 1 load-shedding will return tomorrow

ESKOM has this (Tuesday) evening confirmed that load-shedding is cancelled until 4pm tomorrow.

Citing an improved generation capacity as the reason for the cancellation, Eskom said in a statement that four generation units were returned to service today and a further two are expected to return to service tomorrow.

However, two more units will be taken offline tonight for urgent maintenance.

The power utility said that as a result, stage 1 load-shedding is expected to be implemented between 4pm and 10pm tomorrow and that the system remains unreliable and vulnerable.

‘Unplanned breakdowns amount to 9 424MW of capacity, adding to the 5 246MW currently out on planned maintenance,’ said Eskom.

‘Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as many of these generation units to service as possible.’
