KZN artists can apply for Covid relief funds

Call for cultural and creative entities to apply for funding

THE KZN Department of Arts and Culture calls on organisations and individuals to apply for a special grant aimed at assisting individuals within the arts, culture and heritage sectors during the coronavirus pandemic.

The grant was launched by MEC Hlengiwe Mavimbela, who said organisations registered as non-profit and non-governmental organisations, co-operatives and private companies can apply for financial assistance.

‘Applications will be considered for events up to 2021 to accommodate the easing of Covid regulations. We will continuously evaluate applications, bearing in mind there won’t be many physical events taking place for the better part of the 2020/21 financial year,’ Mavimbela said.

Application forms are available electronically on the department’s website, and at library depots and regional offices in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Ulundi, Ladysmith and Dundee.

Closing date for applications is 15 September.
