Manguzi SAPS spokesperson, Captain Zwelonke Mathenjwa, said a case had been registered at Manguzi for the possession of suspected stolen goods.

‘A 32-year-old suspect was rushed to Manguzi Hospital, and later transferred to Ngwelezana Hospital, where he was kept under police guard,’ said Captain Mathenjwa.

‘The suspects were driving along a concealed route to the border when the army stopped them.

‘The arrested suspect was wanted for cases related to cross-border crime. His accomplice is still at large. The vehicle, with Gauteng registration plates, was seized as an exhibit.’

The chairperson of uMhlabuyalingana Society Against Crime, Juda Mthethwa, said they were happy with the arrest.

‘We have intensified our working relationship with police and the army because we are sick and tired of cross-border crime,’ he said.
