Gunmen open fire in Richards Bay bank

One client is injured after suspects follow him into the bank

THREE suspects followed a customer into First National Bank in the Richards Bay CBD earlier today (Monday), hitting him on the head before firing a number of shots inside the bank.

While details are sketchy, it is believed the suspects then fled with the victim’s possessions.

The client also suffered a superficial gunshot wound possibly as a result of a ricochet shot.

The patient, who was in a state of shock, was stabilised by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

No one else was injured during the incident, which reportedly took place at an isolated section of the bank.

The suspects are still at large. Business continued as normal while authorities remain on scene.
