Richards Bay road ‘block’ poses danger

Those turning right from Bayvue Boulevard towards the beach are especially in danger, as is any person driving after dark

VEHICLE access to the Richards Bay Ski-Boat Club, and for anglers casting their lines off the beach or from the piers at Alkantstrand, was reopened under lockdown Level 3.

This entailed shifting of the security access control point at the Davidson Lane and Bayvue Boulevard intersection, to just beyond the ski-boat club.

However, the boom gate’s huge concrete bollard was left in place, posing potential danger to any driver who is unaware that it is blocking half the road leading to the Alkantstrand parking area.

Those turning right from Bayvue Boulevard towards the beach are especially in danger, as is any person driving after dark.

The perilous situation has existed for over a month, and so far luck has been on the side of motorists.

It has been reported to the municipality, to no avail.
