THE City of uMhlathuze will reopen its Richards Bay Civic Centre offices today (Monday) under stringent conditions after Covid-19 positive cases were detected on some employees last week.
City communications manager Mdu Ncalane said the building has since been cleansed and all offices and deep cleaned.

Members of the public will not be allowed beyond the main entrance.
‘A meeting point has been set up at the Civic Centre ground floor for any consultation between stuff and members of the public and customers, with the exception of the rates hall and licensing sections,’ said Ncalane.
After another positive case confirmed on Friday at the Empangeni rates hall, the City will be disinfecting those offices over the course of this weekend.
‘All possible contacts have been identified and are following the City of uMhlathuze Occupational health and safety guidelines.
‘Service delivery will not be affected in this instance and the office remains open,’ said Ncalane.
Staff members in all city buildings have been further reduced to minimise any possible risks and the city is developing a ‘work from home’ policy for those staff who can work remotely.
The city urges all community visitors to bear with them until the Covid-19 curve is flattened.
Community members are encouraged to enquire about municipal services via online and telephone, and to avoid coming to the city until such time that the situation is normal.
