Grandfather jailed for raping granddaughter
The rape occurred in 2018 and the man was sentenced recently
A DONDOTHA Reserve grandfather was convicted and sentenced to seven years imprisonment for raping his 13-year-old granddaughter.
The 47-year-old accused was convicted in the Empangeni Regional Court last Wednesday.

The court heard that in March 2018, the accused sent the victim to fetch his house keys from a neighbour.
When the girl returned with the house keys, the accused told the girl to enter his house, where he then raped her.
After the rape, he threatened to kill her and her siblings if she reported the incident to the elders.
Although fearful at first, the girl later reported her ordeal to her parents.
