Dylan Jones revved up to resume enduro racing season

'My ultimate goal is to be a professional rider and to be part of a racing team.'

ESHOWE enduro rider Dylan Jones has been super active during the lockdown period to keep fit and stay on top of his game.

The 17-year-old, who is currently completing Grade 11 through homeschooling, said he is pumped up and keen for the new season to begin.

‘My year got off to a great start, having picked up two second place finishes, as well as a fifth place finish, in the high school class at the KZN Racing X-Country, National Enduro Super Series and WFO Hard Enduro Round 1 events.’

The talented rider achieved one of his life’s goals last year when he finished seventh overall in the Silver Class at the Roof of Africa race.

‘Riding in such a gruelling event alongside the world’s best was an awesome learning curve for me and a highlight in my career.

‘If all goes well this year, I would like to compete in the Gold Class at the Roof of Africa if the government gives the go-ahead.’

Jones rides a KTM 125 bike for KTM Durban, but is not a sponsored rider and is seeking sponsorship support.

‘I’ve been blessed during the lockdown period, as I had access to a gymnasium to keep fit and managed to build an image track which allowed for speed training.

‘As restrictions eased, I started training in the bush again, which has helped with my preparations for when the season starts up again.’
