MTUBATUBA SAPS have registered a case of murder following the fatal shooting of local induna, Philip Mkhwanazi.

Mkhwanazi, of Veyana Cultural Village in Khula Village outside St Lucia, was earlier today (Monday) attacked by two unknown men while waiting for two mechanics who were repairing his bakkie.

Mkhwanazi was a PR councillor at Mtubatuba Local Municipality and also served as the ANC Chief Whip.

Mtubatuba police spokesperson, Captain Justice Hlabisa, said no arrests have yet been made.
