No new King Cetshwayo Covid-19 cases

The number of positive cases in King Cetshwayo District has remained the same for a week while neighbouring district Ilembe spikes

THE King Cetshwayo District has reported no new Covid-19 infections since last week.

This is according to KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala, who announced the positive cases per district as of this (Sunday) afternoon.

‘On 16 May, KZN recorded 17 new cases.

‘The province is currently as of today sitting at 10 percent in terms of active cases and has moved down to fourth position countrywide.

‘While the majority of the new cases are still coming from eThekwini, the Ilembe District is starting to have more cases per 100 000 infected people if you consider its population size – a trend we are worried about and working to stop,’ said Zikalala.

He said that while it was the urban areas that were more affected initially, there is now an increase in township cases, while still less of an increase in the rural areas.
