Richards Bay SPCA’s plea for help to continue carrying out essential services

The cash-strapped NPO cannot fund-raise and is battling to pay bills and look after animals in its care

OWING to the national lockdown and last night’s announced extension thereof to the end of April, the Richards Bay SPCA is appealing to the public for help as it desperately needs to continue operating, but is unable to raise funds.

Classified as an essential service, SPCA staff members have not stopped working since the introduction of the lockdown, but abiding by the lockdown regulations, the committee cannot fund-raise and the NPO’s charity shops remain closed.

This means that desperately needed funds raised this way are no longer coming in.

‘We need to pay vet bills, salaries, telephone bills, petrol, food and much more,’ said SPCA chairperson Annemarie Coetzee.

‘If you can find it in your heart to help us, please donate via EFT or simply share our Facebook post with all your family and friends – we need it.

‘We are in an extremely difficult place right now and call out to our community for support. Please open your hearts and help us as much as you can.’

Those willing and able to donate can do so by sending an EFT to: Richards Bay SPCA, Nedbank cheque account, account number: 1302024825, branch code: 130230.

‘We thank you in advance!’
