Three confirmed Covid-19 cases in SANDF

SANDF surgeon general denounced claims that the military has been given sub-standard protective gear

THREE members of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) have tested positive for Covid-19.

Surgeon General, Lieutenant General Zola Dabula, said 125 tests have been conducted out of 184 suspected cases.

Of those, 105 test results came back negative and three positive. Fifteen are still awaiting their results, while three appeared inconclusive.

Dabula said the SANDF has identified mass quarantine and isolation facilities, and dismissed statements that personnel were provided with substandard protective gear.

‘I extend my sincere appreciation to all deployed SANDF members.

‘The SA military health service is working around clock to help curb the spread of the coronavirus,’ Dabula said.

‘Some malicious and irresponsible statements have been doing the rounds to the effect that we are giving our members on the front line substandard protective gear.

‘This is not only false, but is intended to negatively affect our morale.’
