WATCH: Richards Bay’s beautiful beaches deserted during lockdown

Captured on Sunday afternoon on day three of the lockdown

Captured on Sunday afternoon on day three of the lockdown – a time when Alkantstrand, Pelican Bay, Bay Hall and surrounding areas would usually be buzzing with beachgoers and large gatherings of people enjoying a lunchtime braai and get-together, this video shows how quickly natural areas can begin to return to pristine condition when human interference is low or non-existent.

As has happened in other locked down countries, this time has given nature a reprieve from human presence and a chance to ‘bounce back’.
